About Me

Having qualified as a primary school teacher and taught for a few years I decided that I would come back to college and try my hand at Medieval and Renaissance English (a love of mine throughout my entire undergraduate experience ). I completed my Masters in 2010, completing a thesis based on the presence and importance of pilgrimage in Middle English literature. I then began to think about returning to continue my research on literary pilgrimage and decided that I would examine the the link between family and pilgrimage in Middle English literature. I am currently half way through my first year and enjoying every minute of it. At this moment in time I am examining advice and courtsey literature, its role in a familial sense and the how pilgrimage is portrayed in such works. I would also like to acknowledge that my research is currently funded by the Irish Research Council under the Government of Ireland Research Scholarship Scheme.

  1. I like your blog and would like to connect with you. I have developed the Two Saints Way – a recreated pilgrimage route between Chester and Lichfield – see website below.

    Best wishes,

    • Hi David,

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my blog. I’m relatively new to this whole blogging world so it is taking me a little bit of time to get it up and running. I think what you have done regarding the Two Saints Way is fantastic work and if it is ok with you, I would like to put a link to your site on my blog. I especially like the idea of including unusual medieval customs and traditions on the pilgrimage: a great, fun way to engage people with the idea of pilgrimage in the middle ages! Please feel free to email me or leave a message on the blog. Thanks again for getting in contact!

      Kind Regards,
